Fev Regulates Hematopoietic Stem Cell Development via ERK Signaling
The authors showed that Fev, an ETS transcription factor, is a pivotal regulator of hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) development in vertebrates. Experiments performed with purified cord blood showed that fev is expressed and functions in primitive HSCs in humans, indicating its conserved role in higher vertebrates. [Blood] Abstract

Microvesicles Derived from Human Umbilical Cord Wharton’s Jelly Mesenchymal Stem Cells Attenuate Bladder Tumor Cell Growth In Vitro and In Vivo

In order to achieve a more complete understanding of the ontogeny of immune system during the first years of life, researchers investigated age-matched toll-like receptor 1-4 responsiveness at several time points up to the age of two years. Putin Watches as UMCG Signs Cooperation Agreement to Set Up Stem Cell Institute in Russia
President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte watched as Folkert Kuipers, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the Supervisory Board of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), signed a cooperation agreement aimed at establishing a stem cell institute in Skolkovo, Russia. President Edward Crawley and director Nikolai Yankovsky signed the agreement on behalf of the Russian partners, the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology and the Vavilov Institute of General Genetics, respectively.
