Cartilage Repair Using Composites of Human Umbilical Cord Blood-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Hyaluronic Acid Hydrogel in a Minipig Model
The cartilage regeneration potential of human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells with a hyaluronic acid hydrogel composite has shown remarkable results in rat and rabbit models. Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Could Improve Survival of Cytogenetically Normal Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia Patients with DNMT3A Mutations
Researchers retrospectively analyzed the prognostic impact of DNMT3A mutations and explored the role of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) in 308 cytogenetically normal acute myeloid leukemia patients who received consolidation of intensive chemotherapy or allo-HSCT. Differentiation of Donor-Derived Cells into Microglia After Umbilical Cord Blood Stem Cell Transplantation
The authors report an autopsy case of an umbilical cord blood transplant recipient in whom cells derived from the donor blood differentiated into ramified microglia in the recipient brain parenchyma. [J Neuropathol Exp Neurol] Abstract

Clinical Parameters vs Cytokine Profiles as Predictive Markers of IgE-Mediated Allergy in Young Children
Cord blood mononuclear cells from future immunoglobulin (Ig) E-mediated allergic children produced significantly less Interleukin (IL)-12p70 and IL-15 than cells from the rest of the cohort. [PLoS One] Full Article

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Enhanced the Angiogenesis Response of Human Umbilical Cord-Derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells in a Rat Model of Radiation Myelopathy
Investigators examined a synergistic role for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and human umbilical cord-derived MSCs (UC-MSCs) therapy in a rat model of radiation myelopathy. UC-MSCs processed with VEGF increased the endothelial cell density and the microvessel density in the white matter and gray matter of the spinal cord, and raised the relative magnitude of spinal cord blood flow compared to UC-MSC treatment alone.
