Reprogramming Human B-Cells into Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells and Its Enhancement by C/EBPα
Researchers showed for the first time that freshly isolated non-cultured human cord blood- and peripheral blood-derived CD19+CD20+ B-cells can be reprogrammed to induced pluripotent stem cells carrying complete VDJH immunoglobulin gene monoclonal rearrangements using non-integrative tetracistronic, but not monocistronic, Oct4, Sox2, Klf4 and Myc-expressing Sendai Virus. Placenta-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Possess Better Immunoregulatory Properties Compared to Their Cord-Derived Counterparts–A Paired Sample Study

Using a xenotransplantation model and intravital imaging, scientists demonstrated that human hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) display distinct motile behaviors to their hematopoietic progenitor cell (HPC) counterparts, and the same pattern can be found between mouse HSCs and HPCs. Increased Proportion of Hematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cell Population in Cord Blood of Neonates Born to Mothers with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
Scientists assessed the hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell population in the cord blood of neonates born to mothers with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in a hypothesis generating pilot study, due to that neonatal polycythemia may be the consequence of GDM pregnancy. Human Umbilical Cord Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Promote IL-17 Production from hPBMCs of Healthy Donors and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients
Human umbilical cord derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) were examined for their effects on lymphocytes from healthy donors and from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. Significantly higher levels of IL-17 were produced when CD4+ T cells from healthy donors were cocultured with hUC-MSCs than that were cultured alone. [Clin Exp Immunol] Abstract

Therapeutic Effects of Umbilical Cord Blood Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Conditioned Medium on Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension in Rats
As low survival rates and potential tumorigenicity of implanted cells could undermine the mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-based therapy, researchers chose to investigate the use of conditioned medium (CM) from a culture of MSCs as a feasible alternative.
