Human Bone Marrow-Derived and Umbilical Cord-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells for Alleviating Neuropathic Pain in a Spinal Cord Injury Model
Investigators aimed to determine the effect of stem cells derived from bone marrow (BM-MSC) and umbilical cord (UC-MSC) on neuropathic pain relief. They showed that BM-MSC and UC-MSC transplantations alleviated the symptoms of neuropathic pain and resulted in subsequent motor recovery after spinal cord injuries. Kinetics of Versican-Expressing Macrophages in Bone Marrow after Cord Blood Stem Cell Transplantation for Treatment of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia

Comparison of Capacities to Maintain Hematopoietic Stem Cells among Different Types of Stem Cells Derived from the Placenta and Umbilical Cord
Three types of stem cells, amnion epithelial stem cells, amnion mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), and Wharton’s jelly (WJ) MSCs, all of which can be isolated and cultured from the placenta amnion or umbilical cord WJ, were investigated for the expression of hematopoietic stem cell niche markers and for their capabilities to maintain hematopoietic stem cells when co-cultured with cord blood hematopoietic stem cells.
